Eskayel is a new surface design resource I recently discovered
founded by Central St Martins graduate, Shanan Campanaro.
Located inNew York, the creative minds behind this company are
inspired bynature and travel. All of their fabrics, rugs and wallpapers begin aswatercolor paintings.
Shannon says Eskayel’s mission is “to create energetically
positive, eco-friendly, wall coverings, fabrics, carpets, accessories
and furnishings that are meant to last and bring value through the environment”.

I was immediately drawn to the Eskayel wallpaper collection which is broken down into classic, grasscloth, prima and wide format collections.

Featured here is Banda – Chloros grasscloth available in several colors. I find the tie dyed affect interesting for so many applications.

Cocos- Cay Grasscloth has a free form painterly design. I love the idea of art for the walls in the form of wallpaper.

The Crowned Jewels pattern is one of my favorite design from Eskayel.
I often use black as a ground for color in my work so this speaks to my aesthetic!
The designs are offered in wallpaper, fabric, custom rugs, pillows, iphone cases, poufs, custom furniture and more. Check out their website for more information and to view their complete collection here.

It all starts with artwork and everything else is created from there. Here are a few of their archival prints available and ready for framing.
