Lacquered furniture originate in eastern Asia hundreds of years ago,
yet it is currently as popular as ever.  The sleek look of glossy furniture adds
instant glamour to any room.  It can be traditional or modern in feel depending
on the use and application. Bungalow 5 has been showing lacquered pieces in
their line for the past couple of years. Last year I style spotted the blue chest below.

Julia Buckingham Edelmann spotted this Century Chest in coral lacquer

Again this year one of the favorite style spotted pieces at High Point Market was
a lacquered Worlds Away conrad table spotted by Kelly Kole below.

Lacquer was actually spotted all over High Point Market.  Here are some other favorite pieces I saw along the way.

Worlds Away did not disappoint in the lacquer department.  There were many
pieces in the collection with lacquered finishes in beautiful colors.

Lacquer isn’t just about bright colors, white lacquer adds a sophisticated
look to a piece as shown by this console by Mr. Brown

If you are looking to add an accent color though, a lacquered side table
might be just the ticket.  Here’s one by Twitter Feefer in orange

Bungalow 5 had a fabulous assortment of boxes and trays available in
“Horses” orange, “Chiffany Blue” and “Tartier” Red

Moore Councill Furniture was also a player in the lacquer arena with several pieces available in lacquer finishes.
This demi lume console was a favorite of mine.

Bunny Williams for Mirror Images offered several lacquered framed mirrors.
Shown here is a chinese chippendale asian influenced style in bright red.

One of my favorite new resources discovered this market was Taylor Burke.
This chinese chippendale inspired chair is available in lacquered orange, red, green
and navy blue.  Great for his and hers chairs at the dining table.

Century had many lacquered pieces in its line again this market.
This piece was a beauty in ebony and also in emerald green.

Chelsea Textiles has a vintage lacquered line with several styles that would work in traditional or modern interiors alike.

Lacquering furniture has always been considered an arduous process.  The look is fab but the amount of work it took to get a piece to that smooth perfection was left to the professionals until now….

One of the most interesting show rooms this market was Amy Howard’s in Interhall.
I was able to talk to Amy for a couple of minutes in between her demonstrations of her new lacquer paint line.  Amy’s lacquer is a spray on process.  She was there giving mini workshops on how to use this product along with her complete new paint line intros.
Amy has built her reputation on having the most beautiful finishes in the market with her own custom furniture line.  Now she is sharing her secrets so you can create those fabulous finished yourself in your own home on your own pieces.  Click here to learn more about her new paint line as Amy Howard Home available in 14 colors.

I’m going to order some Amy Howard paint and try my hand at this!
How incredible to get the chic look of thick lacquer in a spray can!
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
Amy’s new paint line is exciting!  Not only does she offer lacquers but an
entire collection of paints to achieve a multitude of finishes.

If you decide to tackle a project like this will you share your photos and how
it worked?  I’ll be posting about mine once I decide the color I want to use!
