Our room is coming along fantastically thanks to our contractor, Laurence Carolan, Jennifer Nicholson, Jeana Lewis and many others! We can’t wait to share our room! We have partnered with some amazing brands like Duralee, Thibaut, Kravet, Hunter Douglas, Taylor Burke Home, Stanton Carpet through Country Carpet and Rug of Long Island. We have talented people like artist; Kerry Steele and Patricia Van Esche created paintings and renderings for us. Here’s a little peek at what’s in store for the First Floor Business Office at The Ronald McDonald House Long Island Project Phase 2. We will install our room the end of September and we can barely wait!
Our Why?
The idea to share studio space was born from my partnership with Traci, when designing a room in the Traditional Home/Junior League of Greensboro “Adamsleigh” Show House last year. The proceeds from that project went to help children in Guilford County. It felt good to use our talents to help others. So when Traci and I decided to share studio space, we knew we wanted to keep our client projects separate, but as a studio we decided we would do one pro bono project jointly a year in an effort to give back. Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is our project for 2014!
People have asked why Traci and I decided to do the Ronald McDonald House Long Island. Our short answer to that is, ” because we can.” I feel like things happen for a reason. When Beth Green of Kravet asked us, we didn’t say “why,” we said, “why not.” Traci and I are both mothers, and as mothers, we have a soft spot for children, especially sick children. Having lost a child myself, I know first hand how difficult the path can be for the parents when faced with a crisis that affect our children. It is our hope to design a space that will serve as a place the families can conduct their personal business, at ease, while staying in the house. Did you know families from Charlotte have stayed in the Ronald McDonald Houses of New York? There are four fantastic hospitals within the vicinity of the RMD house we are helping renovate. If your child needed to have treatment in New York, your family could stay at the house if there were availability. It doesn’t matter if you are from Dallas, Texas, or Washington, DC. Anyone can stay at the Ronald McDonald house if your children are being treated at local hospitals.
Our goal is to provide a comfortable temporary home for families when
they are fighting for their children’s lives.
We are all in this together; it doesn’t matter the location of the house.
We hope you will join us in the fight!
Please Come by and See the Studio, leave a donation or enter a raffle is your heart is so inclined! If you want to pop by to wish us luck and see the studio, we would love to have you!
